There are supply ducts and return ducts.  The supply ducts deliver the air to your room and the return ducts extract the air and re-circulate it through the furnace. When ducts are not sealed properly, several unwanted things happen. If the supply ducts leak, but the return ducts are sealed up properly then two things will happen.

First, the heated air is not making its way to its destination. Second, if there is not a sufficient amount of return air, excess heat can build up and cause the furnace to over heat. During the cooling season, leaky ducts can cause the coil to operate inefficiently or even freeze. No need to worry about leaky ducts with us!
